Beautiful Death
Before I start, I have to apologize for my lack of updates. Life happens and I've been pretty busy and distracted. I do have a couple ideas in mind so hopefully, you guys will have some updates in the following weeks.
Now, hello. Autumn has arrived. There's color in the trees and I'm currently dressed up in my hoodie. Needless to say, I am overjoyed. I needed a change of season and fall is by far my favorite.
We driving one day and my mom said something that got me thinking. Fall is death. The leaves all die and the trees go in to hibernation. It becomes cold and dark. Death. The interesting thing is that it's a death that is celebrated. Kids make leaf piles to play in, and Thanksgiving is coming. Family comes together. Even in the insanity of this season, there is so much beauty. There's beauty in this death.
This reminded me of something else. Jesus' death. Our deaths. He died on that cross so we could receive endless grace. Granted, that event was pretty gorey, bloody, etc. but he died out of love and that's what makes Jesus' death so beautiful. His death was absolutely gorgeous in the end but what do I mean about our deaths? How are they beautiful? Well, when we decided "yeah, I believe in Jesus," we made the decision to invite him into our hearts and lives. We died to ourselves. Once that happens, we've said yes to God's hand in our lives. He can use us as His hands and feet, to be who He called us to be since the beginning of time.
Death is not always as beautiful as the colorful autumn leaves. Nor is it as easy to deal with. Sometimes death is more like winter, cold and bare but when we surrender our lives to him, it isn't that kind of death. It is beautiful.
