Reflections and Resolutions
So, with the closing of this year and the beginning of the next, many have started making a list of resolutions. I am not one of those people, as I probably wouldn't do very well, and so I admire these people immensely. Good on ya, mates. One thing I can do though is reflect.
God has done a lot for me this year, now that I think about it. This year has even pretty rough, I admit. Between spats of heavy depression, lots of stress, a low self esteem, and a fallout with a best friend, I've struggled. It's been hard. But it's been good too. This year, I've been much happier than I was last year, in a place where I was alone, I have found new friends, my sister has been freed from a mess similar to mine, I got my prayer language-something that I've been praying for for about two, three years-and the break formed between my friend and I has been slowly mending. God did all that for me. Through all the bad, He was faithful.
There's nothing wrong with resolutions but we also need to have reflections. God has been faithful to each of us, and for that I'm incredibly grateful. I'm sure we've all heard the phrase, "leave the past in the past." Granted, there are some things I'd love to forget but as Christians, we have been given testimonies and we need to remember those. Look back on this year. There will be bad but in all of that, there is so much good.
Now, a small note on resolutions. Give them to God. Let him be in charge of your year.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
