Trust

We had a big snow this week, with 5-7 inches in our yard and a sheet of ice on the road preventing us from getting out. That said, cabin fever aside, I still love the snow and our puppy, Ebony, enjoys it too. However, there are complications with that too. Between her poodle hair or North Carolina snow, ice clumps up on her legs and the only way to get said ice off is with a brush and a hair dryer. Ebony does not like it. She's been getting better but it's still an awful job for both parties. She will wriggle and squirm and try to help by pulling off the cold chunks with her teeth but she mostly just gets in the way. While I was working with her today, she was especially anxious.

"Trust me," I kept telling her to no avail. All she did was keep struggling.

Is it just me or has anyone else done this with God? We all go through situations we don't like and we all struggle. The unfortunate reality is faith isn't always the first thing on our mind. Although Ebony wanted the ice off her, escaping was her first priority. She didn't think out how much warmer she would be if she let me help her. We can do the same with God. In our struggles, we can lose sight of the one who sees us there, the one who is there to help if we'll only let Him.

"Trust me," He says. He has already promised to never forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:8) and that He works for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Faith may not be the first thing on your mind but as long as it comes long later, you'll have something to hold onto.
