Mountains

On Friday, my family and I along with some friends had the privilege of hiking around Pilot Mountain state park in N.C. I’d done it before but as its spring, it was different to the previous times. The shades of green range from light to dark, some leaves even seemed yellow. New life was absolutely everywhere.

It was a good hike. However, I was surprised when we reached the end. The walk was much shorter than I thought it would be. It’s called Pilot Mountain. You’d think it’d be longer considering. I was thinking about that on the drive home. What if the mountains we face in our lives are like that? They seem so huge and grand but in reality, they’re much smaller than you think they are. Yes, you will come across mountains like those of the Rocky’s but not every mountain is like that.

In the book of Revelation, there’s a verse that says that the enemy walks around like a roaring lion. There’s this thing that a friend of my dad’s said. The enemy isn’t a lion, he’s a mouse with a megaphone and a magnifying glass. He uses the magnifying glass on mole hills to make them look like mountains, even though they’re just a mole hill.

Mountain can be really big but problems can be much smaller than you think. That words coming through that megaphone are meant to be deceiving. Words have a way of getting stuck in your head and reaching your heart. They manipulate you, and it can make your mole hill seem like a mountain. But it’s just a mole hill. The distance over, around, or through isn’t as far as you think it is.
